Early Life:

Her original name is Brooke Christa Shields. Her father is Francis Alexander Shields and mother is Teri. Both of them are no more today. Her father belonged to a noble family and has French, Irish and English roots. Her paternal grandmother was the Italian princess Donna Marina Torlonia. She had a starry childhood though. Her parents divorced when she was five months old. She was a very beautiful girl prompting her mother to state her intentions of making her famous in showbiz. Brooke learnt piano, ballet, and riding lessons in her childhood.

Education:

She graduated in 1987 from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in French literature.

Career:

She was born to be a film star. She had her first tryst with stardom at the tender age of eleven months. She did an advertisement campaign for Ivory Soap. She was a successful child model. She played her first role in films at the age of just 12 years. She portrayed the role of a child prostitute in the film, “Pretty Baby.” She appeared in a controversial advertisement for Calvin Klein jeans at the age of 14 years. By the age of 16, she was one of the most recognizable faces in the world. Her mother was involved in some legal issues during 1981-83. She had her share of controversies. Her first film itself had many nude scenes. This became a controversial issue with child pornography. She is renowned for her role in “The Blue Lagoon” involving numerous nude love scenes on a tropical island.

Television career:

She did various television shows such as “Alice in Wonderland,” “Friends,” and “Suddenly Susan.” She won the “People’s Choice Award” many times and had a couple of “Golden Globe” nominations as well. She has a tremendous net worth, being an actor of repute.

Personal Life:

She had a tumultuous personal life with numerous affairs. She lost her virginity at 22. She had a penchant for physical fitness and hence promoted women’s athletics. She married the famous tennis player Andre Agassi in 1997 and they divorced in 1999. Later on, she married television writer Chris Henchy in 2001. They have two children and reside in New York. She was in the news for a long time because of her battle with postpartum depression. This included thoughts of suicide, a traumatic childbirth, and death of her father among other reasons. She spoke in favor of the antidepressant drug, “Paxil” for which she earned the wrath of Tom Cruise.
