Buck Showalter

Buck Showalter was born as William Nathaniel Showalter III on 23rd May, 1956 in a city called DeFuniak Springs which is located in Florida. He grew up with his family in a nearby country called Century where his father Showalter II, a high school teacher. Buck’s father was a former American football player. Aside from teaching, he also coaches the high school’s football team. Young Nate started liking baseball from his school days.

He did his schooling in Junior College called Chipola, where he was part of his school’s baseball team. He did his college in the State University of Mississippi. He showed his batting skills on his college baseball team and performed really well. He once set a record of highest batting average of .459 in his college in 1977 season. He was picked by the Yankees Team which is based out of New York and played for 7 seasons in minor leagues. He did reasonably well maintaining a healthy batting average.

He started his career as a manager or head coach in minor leagues. His first job was managing a small minor league called Oneonta Yankees in 1985. He managed the team for 2 seasons and the team went on to win 114 matches. He started managing the Yankees baseball team based out of Fort Lauderdale in 1987 and did a good job managing the team. He then managed a couple of other minor leagues.

He was added to the coaching staff of New York Yankees baseball team in 1990. Within 2 years, he was elevated to the manager position and managed the team for 4 seasons from 1992 to 1995. Yankees team had a very good record under Showalter. He resigned his manager job in 1995. Showalter was credited for the success of the team, which then went on to win World Championships for 5 times.

Arizona Diamondbacks hired Showalter in 1996 to prepare the team for 1998 season, keeping in mind that 2 years is required for building a good team. After a mediocre first season, Arizona Diamondbacks made good progress in 1999 season with a win percentage of 61%. After a disappointing third season, he was fired from his manager job. Diamondbacks went on to win World Championship in 2001.

After a brief stint as an ESPN analyst, he joined Texas Rangers baseball team as a manager in 2002. He managed the Ranger for 4 years. He was fired in 2006. He started managing Baltimore Orioles in 2010 and he signed a contract till 2013 season. The contract was extended and he is still managing the Orioles.

He married his wife Angela Showalter in 1983. The couple has 2 children together. His net worth and salary are not yet revealed.
