Catherine Bach is an American actress best known for her role as Daisy Duke in the television series Dukes of Hazard and her appearance in the film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Catherine was born on March 1, 1954 in Warren, Ohio; her father had German ancestry and her mother had Mexican ancestry.

Catherine attended and graduated from Stevens High School in Rapid City, South Dakota. She studied arts at the University of Southern California where she supplemented her income by making clothes. Catherine actually handmade many of the costumes that she wore in her portrayal of Daisy Duke on Dukes of Hazard; including the famous “Daisy Duke” cut-off jeans. Bach also posed as Daisy Duke for a poster, which ended up selling over five million copies.  

Catherine Bach was married to Angela Lansbury’s step-son, David Shaw, for five years, from 1976 through 1981. She married the entertainment lawyer Peter Lopez in 1990 and the couple had two daughters, Sophia and Laura. Peter Lopez was found dead in 2010 from apparently self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
