Broadcast Career at WPVI-TV
Cecily Joan Tynan has been a prominent figure at WPVI-TV since joining the network in 1995. Currently, she serves as the chief meteorologist, delivering weather forecasts during the weekday evening newscasts at 5:00, 6:00, and 11:00 p.m. In addition to her meteorological role, Tynan has hosted the station’s Saturday evening public affairs program, Primetime Weekend, since 2006, taking over after the passing of former host Gary Papa.

Tynan holds the American Meteorological Society’s Television Seal of Approval (seal number 1099), a credential demonstrating her expertise and professionalism in meteorology. Her broadcasting career began at WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia, where she worked as a weekend weather anchor and general assignment reporter. She later joined KTNV in Las Vegas as the weather and news anchor for Good Morning Las Vegas before moving to WPVI-TV in Philadelphia. Since then, she has progressively taken on prominent roles at the station, including weekend weathercaster, general reporter, morning weather anchor, and eventually weeknight chief meteorologist and co-host.
