In 2010, Tatum portrayed a soldier in the romantic drama Dear John, an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling novel. The film showcased his ability to lead emotionally driven narratives and further expanded his fan base.
Tatum met actress Jenna Dewan while filming Step Up in 2006. Their on-screen chemistry extended off-camera, and they began dating during the production of the movie. The couple got engaged in 2008 and were married on July 11, 2009, at Church Estates Vineyards in Malibu, California.
