Her ex-husband Corey Harrison established a long career at his father's pawn shop which first opened in 1989, less than two miles from the famous Las Vegas Strip. Corey expressed his desire to work at the pawn shop when he just was nine years old. He wanted to spend time with his father and learn the tools of the trade. As a young boy he was given the assignment to polish displayed jewelry. Corey didn’t restrict himself to simple tasks, he taught himself the business. After many years at the pawn shop, he became the manager of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop.
His father, Rick Harrison said that he thinks of Corey as the most successful kid of his four children. After arguing with his father in 2014 about the pawn shop, Corey threatened that to leave the shop, unless he was given a 10% partnership.
As a result of the heated argument, Corey was given a 5% partnership as well as a promotion with the possibility of a greater stake in the business in the future. The story plots of Pawn Stars often feature Corey Harrison coming into conflict with his father and grandfather over his knowledge of the shop's inventory, his responsibilities as a manager of the store, and his overall judgment in sales. The conflicts usually arise when they have to deal with very expensive items.
Personal life
Charlene Harrison and Corey Harrison were high school sweethearts who got married in 2009. Unfortunately, they filed for divorce in 2009 for unknown reasons. Corey and Charlene did not have any children during their marriage.
Corey “Big Hoss” Harrison was extremely obese before he was selected to undergo gastric lap band surgery. As a result of the surgery and changes to his diet, Harrison's weight went down from 365 lbs in 2010 to approximately 250 lbs by July of 2011. Corey's best friend, Austin Lee Russell is also an employee at the pawn shop. Austin’s nickname is Chumlee and he was born on September 8, 1982. Russell was given the nickname "Chumlee" when he was about 12 years old, due to his large face and chin. They were friends from early childhood and continue to be best friends to this day.
Chumlee and Corey often spent time in the pawn shop as children. Chumlee came to work at the pawn shop five years before the filming of the first season for Pawn Stars. On the show, Chumlee is portrayed as the comic foil, often made to be the butt of the others' jokes for his perceived lack of intelligence and incompetence. His duties usually involve appraising items in his area of expertise which consists of pinball machines, sneakers and video games.
