Charles Woodson is the former football cornerback with a successful career spanning over 18 years. He is one of the best athletes that NFL world has ever seen. To this date, he is the last person to win the Heisman Trophy who is not a cornerback or a running back. He is a versatile footballer who played at ranging positions from offence to defence. Early life

Charles Woodson was born on 7th October 1996. Fremont, Ohio is the birth place of Charles Woodson. He attended Ross high school in Fremont. He finished his high school football career with the record of running 3,861 yards. He was bestowed as the “Mr Football” of Ohio. During his high school years, he also played basketball and participated in track and field events.

Woodson attended Michigan University and played for the Michigan Wolverines. During his stay at the Wolverines, he took the team to new heights. He led the Wolverines to an undefeated season. He was also successful in providing national championship to the Wolverines that same year. He was awarded the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the best defensive player.

NFL career

Woodson was recruited by the Oakland raiders and was selected in the 1st round of the 1998 NFL draft. He started all the games of his first season and was awarded the League’s Rookie of the year. Woodson went on to create and break records for the next 18 years of his career. In the 2000 year season, he injured his toe which prevented him from practicing but this did not stop him to score the career high 79 tackles.

After playing 7 years for the Raiders, Woodson was reached a contract with the Green Bay Packers for 7 years. The deal was worth $52 million. Woodson was an exceptional leader and motivator. This was proved when he led the Packers to a classic victory against Pittsburgh Stealers in the Super Bowl XLV. Despite injuring his collar bone in the match, Woodson was successful in three tackles in which two were solo efforts. He got praise from the president Barak Obama for his efforts. Woodson signed another deal with the Peckers in 2010 for another two years on September 9th 2010. In the 2012 season, he showed his versatility by changing his position from cornerback to free safety.

On May 21st 2013, Woodson was once again recruited to the Oakland Raiders with a one year deal. On October 6th 2013, he achieved yet another NFL record for most defensive touchdowns of 13 in a match against San Diego Chargers. In 2015, through twitter Raiders announced that they have made a deal with Woodson for his return in 2015 season. The legendary Woodson announced his retirement at the end of 2015 season.

Personal life

Charles is married to April Woodson. He and his wife have two beautiful children. He has keen interest in wine and has a winery in Napa California. He also had many run ins with the law.

Woodson is also a philanthropist. He donated $ 2 million to the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital for research. Woodson has his own charitable foundation to support the fight against breast cancer known as "Charles Woodson Foundation". He also contributed $100,000 for hurricane sandy relief efforts.
