Early Life and Education

Chris Vance, born George Christopher Vance, is an English actor known for his dynamic roles in both television and film. He was born in Paddington, London, and grew up in both England and Ireland. Vance attended St. Bede’s Secondary School in Lawrence Weston, Bristol, before enrolling at Newcastle University, where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Career Beginnings and British Television

Vance began his acting career in British television, taking on guest roles in shows such as The Bill. In 2003, he moved to Australia, where he appeared in popular series including Stingers and Blue Heelers. His breakout role came with the Australian drama All Saints, where he portrayed Sean Everleigh. This marked the beginning of his international visibility as an actor.

Breakthrough in International Roles

Chris Vance gained broader recognition with his role as James Whistler in the third and fourth seasons of the American television series Prison Break. His performance in the show solidified his presence in the U.S. television market.

Roles in 'Mental', 'Dexter', and 'Burn Notice'

Following his success in Prison Break, Vance landed the lead role of Jack Gallagher in the Fox series Mental, which was filmed in Colombia. Although the show was cancelled after 13 episodes, it further demonstrated his leading-man capabilities.

He later appeared in a recurring guest role as Mason Gilroy, a manipulative antagonist, in five episodes of the USA Network's hit series Burn Notice during its third season. Vance also had a significant role in the fifth season of Showtime’s Dexter as Cole Harmon, a motivational speaker linked to a series of brutal crimes in South Florida.
