Connor Barwin

Connor Alfred Barwin commonly known as Connor Barwin is an American football player. He plays defensive end for Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. In 2005 Barwin started his career as a freshman in College football at Cincinnati. In the second round of NFL Draft 2009 Barwin was drafted by Houstan Texans.

Early life:

Barwin was born on October 15,1986 in Detroit, Michigan to the parents Thomas Barwin and Margaret Bailey. 6’4” tall Barwin weight 120 kg and is youngest in the four brothers. Barwin was born deaf which was confirmed at the age of two. Barwin was undergone through numerous surgeries till the age of 12 years to get rid of the benign tumour after which he got complete hearing in hearing in right ear while partial in left.

Barwin is University of Detroit Jesuit High School graduate. As a senior, Barwin achieved All-League, All-Catholic and All-District Honours. In basketball game Barwin was selected as All-League when Junior and as senior was selected as All-Catholic.

College Football Career:

Barwin sets the major history when he played college football at the University of Cincinnati. In 2005 Barwin played 11 games as a back to the tight end. In Barwin’s freshman and sophomore season the first tight end was Brent Celek. When in early January Cincinnati Basketball team was destroyed Barwin joined the team, he played 18 games for the team playing as backup forward.

In 2006, in sophomore season Barwin played every single one of 13 matches on special team.

In 2007, Barwin played for junior in special team and in backup tight end as well in 12 games.

Brian Kelly the head coach in 2008 felt that Barwin had more potential to play at defensive end so he had been moved to the space. Barwin’s performance helped him to achieve First-team All-Big East honours; he also won the most valuable player award i-e Claude Rost Award.

Barwin’s college football career includes: 12 sacks, 53 receptions for 692 yards, 66 tackles, eight deflected passes and six touchdowns.

Professional Career:

It was 2009 when Barwin was first drafted by Houston Texans in the second round of NFL Draft. Before drafting Barwin measurable according to University of Cincinnati was, he ran a 4.47 sec 40 times at pro day. In 2009 NFL Draft season Barwin played for all of the 16 games. Barwin’s 2010 season was very short as he was announced with the ankle injury. On returning from the injury in 2011, Barwin was moved to the outside linebacker, he then played all the 16 Texans games. Barwin also got the AFC Defensive Player of the month for November award. In 2012 he played for all of the 16 games of Texans. He scored 3.5 sacks, five passes defenced, 45 tackles and also the first safety of his career. With the Philadelphia Eagles, on 14th March 2013 Barwin signed a six year contract worth $36 million in which $8 million was guaranteed. In a column on NJ.com on 31st March 2014 previewing the NFL Draft called Barwin the Eagles “MVP of the defences, and a leader in the locker room.”
