Cynthia Nixon is known as an American actress, activist, and politician. She is most famous for her portrayal of Miranda Hobbes in the popular HBO series Sex and the City.

Cynthia Ellen Nixon was born on April 9, 1966 in Manhattan, New York. She was only the single offspring of Walter Elmer Nixon Jr., a radio journalist from Texas and her mother Anne Elizabeth, an actress hailing from Chicago. She is of English and German descent. Her grandparents were notable figures like Adolph Knoll, Etta Elizabeth Williams, Walter E. Nixon, Sr., and Grace Truman McCormack.

Nixon's folks separated from each other when she was six years old. According to Nixon, her father was frequently unemployed and her mom was the family's fundamental breadwinner. Nixon's mom worked on the game show called To Tell the Truth, training the contestants who professed to be the individual portrayed by the host.

Nixon showed up on the show at the age of 9 as one of the "impostors", pretending to be an amateur horse riding champion.

Career

Nixon was highly praised for her character on Sex and the City. She won the 2004 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She returned to the role in the feature films Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2.
