Dania Jissel Ramirez, was born in Santo Domingo on 8th of November 1979. At the time of her birth, her family lived below humble standards. When she was just 6 months old, her parents migrated to USA for a better living. She grew up in under the guardianship of her grandmother and continued to be with her till the age of 10. She then went to live with her parents in New York. From her very teenage, she was confident of becoming an actress. Five years after she moved to New York, a modelling scout caught hold of her at a convenience store, where she worked. In this way, she got her first TV appearance in a Soda Commercial.

Following her penchant for acting she joined an acting workshop under Flo Greenberg in New York City and then went to Los Angeles, for further advancement in the field of acting. Dania has appeared in almost all kinds of cinema namely, Music videos, Films and Television. Her career in television kicked off with ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ where she was in a minor role of Caridad. She did short roles in a few television series, until in the year 2007 she got a regular character of Maya Herrera in the series Heroes. She also has recurring appearances on 2010 drama ‘Entourage’ and finally she was able to mark her footprints by bagging the lead role of Rosie Falta in the Comedy Drama ‘Devious Maids.’ She has also done a few TV Movies, some of them are, ‘Solving Charlie (2009)’ and ‘Romy and Michele: In the beginning.’

Her film career started as an extra in the 1997 movie ‘Subway Series.’ Her major roles in movies started with the 2004 Spike Lee film ‘She hates me.’ After it she was seen in the film ‘Fat Albert (2004)’ and in the year 2006 as Callisto in the superheroes movie ‘X-Men: The Last Stand.’ He other notable work in movies are in the films; ‘The 5th commandment (2008),’ ‘American Reunion (2012)’ and ‘Premium Rush (2012).’

Dania’s career has also flourished in the category of Music Videos. She has worked with prominent singers; for Jay-Z in ‘Streets is watching (1998),’ LL Cool J in ‘Hush (2005),’ Santana in ‘Into the Night (2007)’ and ‘Cry Baby Cry.’  A music video ‘Dime Que Te Paso’ by Winsin and Yandel portrays her in the main character of a wife and mother of a military man.

It is evident from her work that she has done a few but good work in cinema. Her work has been rewarded by giving her nomination in the ALMA Awards and the Imagen Awards.

Ramirez announced her engagement to John Amos Beverly Land on September 2011, and the love birds got married on February 16, 2013 on a beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Her husband, John is a director in the acting industry and they have two kids together. Surely there is passion and devotion in the work of Dania, and just because of it she has been able to raise her net worth to $1 million.
