Early Life and Background

Dania Jissel Ramirez was born on November 8, 1979, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At the time of her birth, her family lived modestly. When Dania was just six months old, her parents emigrated to the United States in search of better opportunities, leaving her in the care of her grandmother. She lived with her grandmother until the age of 10, after which she joined her parents in New York.

From a young age, Ramirez was determined to pursue a career in acting. While working at a convenience store during her teenage years, she was discovered by a modeling scout, which led to her first appearance on television in a soda commercial.

Acting Education and Early Career

To cultivate her passion for acting, Ramirez enrolled in an acting workshop led by Flo Greenberg in New York City. She later moved to Los Angeles to further advance her career. Her early acting experience spanned across various media, including music videos, films, and television.

Ramirez made her television debut with a minor role as Caridad in the cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This was followed by several short appearances in other series. In 2007, she gained wider recognition through her role as Maya Herrera in the television series Heroes. She later had a recurring role on the 2010 HBO series Entourage. Ramirez's breakthrough came with her leading role as Rosie Falta on the Lifetime comedy-drama Devious Maids.

She also appeared in several made-for-TV movies, including Solving Charlie (2009) and Romy and Michele: In the Beginning.
