WWE Career and Injuries

Daniel Bryan rose to prominence as one of WWE’s most technically skilled and charismatic wrestlers. He gained attention for his underdog persona and memorable rivalries, including a notable victory over Dolph Ziggler in a RAW main event. Bryan retired from in-ring competition in 2016 at the age of 34 due to a series of medical issues, most notably related to concussions and brain injuries.

During his time in Ring of Honor (ROH), Bryan sustained a dislocated shoulder and multiple ligament tears, including injuries in both his shoulder and chest. These setbacks, along with repeated concussions, made his WWE career unpredictable at times. In an interview, he disclosed suffering his first concussion just five months into his career. Eventually, recurring concussions led to undiagnosed seizures and prompted his temporary retirement.

Despite these challenges, Bryan underwent extensive medical evaluations, including clearance by neurologists, that eventually allowed his return to wrestling. His comeback was praised and viewed as inspirational by fans and the wrestling community alike.

In June 2019, Bryan and his tag team partner, Erick Rowan, successfully defended their WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships against Heavy Machinery at the Stomping Grounds pay-per-view event.

Daniel Bryan's Role as General Manager

Following his initial retirement in 2016, Bryan transitioned into a non-wrestling role within WWE. He served as the General Manager of SmackDown Live, where his knowledge and charisma continued to engage audiences outside the ring. His popularity remained high, and his insights provided depth to ongoing storylines and talent development.
