Daniel Richard Moder was born on 31 January 1969 in California, USA. His father Mike Moder was a film producer and mother Patricia Ann Waltz was a teacher. He has one brother and 2 sisters. Moder went to high school at Saint Monica High School. He was very interested in the science of movie making. He used to tag along with his father to movie sets and watch the working of all the devices and props. He was very impressed with what goes on into movie making. Then itself he thought of someday becoming a director. All his childhood he watched many documentaries and movies to understand the technology behind film production. After completing his graduation, he went to the University of Colorado in 1992 to get a bachelor's degree.
His first work was as a production assistant in the movie Crimson Tide in 1995. He learned a lot from this film as he got the first-hand knowledge of all the instruments and workings of different devices. A year later he worked on the movie The Fan. This was a sports drama film so it had many choreographed scenes that were shot with the help of Daniel. From there on he moved to the camera and electrical department for the movies such as The Brave, The Big Tease and Enemy of the State. Until now he wasn't sure of what he wanted to do exactly, finally, he figured it out and finally moved on to cinematography. His first movie as a cinematographer was Kid Quick. It was a short comedy and didn’t garner much attention in the industry but proved to be a stepping stone for Moder. He later worked on some big movies such as Border, Jesus Henry Christ, The Normal Heart to name a few.
He also works in the camera department from time to time along with cinematography. His movies such as Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Mexican, Spiderman 3 and Full Frontal have given us a sneak peak of his immense talent as all of these movies have been nominated for awards in cinematography and have been praised for quality in the shooting. Moder’s personal life is a little less known to the media as he likes to keep it private and away from media attention. He has been married twice. His first wife Vera Steimberg was married to him firm 1997 to 2002 until they got a divorce citing some misunderstandings in the relationship. While shooting The Mexican he met Julia Roberts and fell in love with her the first time he saw her. They started dating and then got married on 4 July 2002. The wedding ceremony was a very low key one as only his friends and family members were invited for it. He has a total of 3 children all with his second wife, he doesn’t have any children with his ex-wife. His biography can be read on Wikipedia as well as IMDB. He can be followed on social media such as Facebook and twitter. His net worth is not known at this point in time as he hasn’t disclosed it.
