In early days Julia wanted to be a veterinarian but after her graduation from Smyrna’s Campbell high school, she came to New York and started her career in acting. At first she joined the Click modelling agency and started her acting classes.

In 1988, Roberts gave her first look in the movie ‘Satisfaction.’ Later in the same year she gave her first independent role in the movie ‘Mystic Pizza.’ Now Roberts was known worldwide. One more great success achieved by Roberts was when she did the movie ‘Sleeping with the Enemy.’ She showed up in one of the famous Television show namely, Friends (season 2). She did a lot of movies like Mary Reilly, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Sesame Street, and Runaway Bride. Around 1999 her boyfriend was Benjamin Bratt. In 2004 Roberts replaced Cate Blanchett in a romantic drama, ‘Mike Nichols's closer.’ In 2004 she did the sequel movie ‘Ocean’s Twelve.’ Other films with which she was associated were ‘Hook (1991),’ ‘The Pelican Brief (1993),’ ‘Conspiracy Theory (1997),’ ‘Notting Hill (1999),’ ‘Charlie Wilson’s War (2007),’ ‘Valentine’s Day (2010),’ ‘Eat Pray Love (2010),’ and ‘Mirror Mirror (2012);’ have collectively recorded a production of almost 2.6 billion dollars. Roberts received around 25 million dollars for a Forward Thinking Art.

In 1989, Roberts with the help of her film ‘Steel Magnolias’ got an Academy Award Nomination as well as her first Golden Globe Award win. Roberts was once nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards. In December 2000, Julia was reported as the top 50 women in show business.

Roberts, being a producer owns the production company Red Om films which was made successful with the efforts of her sister Lisa and Marisa. By this production company Roberts served as executive producer for the first four films of the American Girl.

Roberts had some romantic relationships with actors like Jason Patric, Liam Neeson, Kiefer Sutherland and Matthew Perry. She was engaged to Sutherland but they broke up a few days before their wedding day. On 25th of June, 1993, she married to Lyle Lovett, but in March 1995 they divorced. Roberts on the set of her film ‘The Mexican,’ met Daniel Moder and their relationship grew. Before all this Roberts was dating Benjamin Bratt and Daniel was married to Vera Steimberg. Before their marriage Daniel took his divorce from Vera. So finally, On July 4, 2002, Roberts married Daniel and at this time she was around thirty five years of age. Later Roberts with her husband Daniel had three children: Hazel, Phinnaeus, Henry.

Roberts being brought up as a catholic had great religious beliefs. Roberts in 2010 agreed that she practises Hinduism and her updates over Twitter and Instagram also verifies it.

Before, in the year 2009 when Roberts was shooting for her film Eat Pray Love, Swami Daram Dev gave her children with their new names.

Roberts was seen giving her both time and resources to UNICEF as well as to many other famous charitable organisations.
