Daren Kagasoff, born Daren Maxwell Kagasoff, was born on September 16, 1987, in Encino, California. He is the second of three children born to Elise Kagasoff, a designer, and Barry Kagasoff, a diamond merchant. Daren has two siblings named Justin and Natalie. He is of Russian-Jewish descent and was raised in a supportive family environment in the Los Angeles area.
Daren attended Montclair Preparatory High School in Van Nuys, California, where he was an active member of the school's baseball team. His passion for sports was evident during these formative years.
After graduating from high school, he enrolled at San Francisco State University. However, while in college, he decided to pursue a career in acting and eventually moved back to Los Angeles to begin formal training and auditioning for roles.
His first significant opportunity came with a lead role in a local theater production of Suburbia, although critical reception to his performance was mixed. Determined to improve, Daren took professional acting classes and continued auditioning.
His persistence paid off when producer Brenda Hampton cast him as Ricky Underwood in the ABC Family drama series The Secret Life of the American Teenager. The show, which ran from 2008 to 2013, proved to be a breakthrough for Daren, garnering him widespread recognition and critical acclaim.
Following his success on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Daren was cast as Alex in the FOX pilot Delirium, based on the novel by Lauren Oliver. Unfortunately, the series was not picked up.
In 2014, he played Trevor in the supernatural horror film Ouija, directed by Stiles White and co-written by White and Juliet Snowden. That same year, he joined FOX's comedy-drama series Red Band Society, portraying Hunter Cole, Kara’s love interest. Despite its compelling premise, the show lasted only one season.
He also made appearances in other TV shows such as Blue (2015), where he played a character named Daren, and Stalker (2014), where he portrayed Eric Bates.
