Daren is of a Russian descent.

As a teen he attended Montclair preparatory High School, during his high school days he played baseball and he was a member of the school's baseball team.

While he was a college student at San Francisco State University he decided to pursue acting as a career.

Personal Life

 Daren isn’t married yet and has no kids, but there were rumours he dated his co-star Shailene Woodley and according to an article published by the Daily Mail UK on March 2015, Shailene Woodley revealed she was currently in love with him then, however this hasn't been confirmed.

He seems to be the social type and he's a regular user in social networks like Twitter and Tumblr.

He tends to have a close relationship with Keeping Up With The Kardashian star Rob, and he revealed he loved watching the show because of Rob. He is a fan of the Lakers and American Rag is his favourite clothing store. He said he loves eating matched potatoes as his favourite hobby is playing golf.

During an interview he was asked what he would describe as his ideal girl and he stated his ideal girl should be able to keep a steady conversation and also she has to be intelligent.

Career

His acting career started when he got the lead role in suburbia, it was a local theatre production, but he was poorly criticised for his role in the movie. He took acting classes and afterwards he went for auditions, after his fifth audition he was picked by producer Brenda Hampton to play the role of Ricky Underwood in the Secret Life of an American Teenager, an ABC Family series show that ran for about five seasons.

He was cast as Alex in Fox pilot Delirium, as the series was based upon the novel by Lauren Oliver but the series didn't pick up.

Apart from his involvement in television acting he appeared in a 2014 supernatural horror film titled Ouija where he played the role of Trevor in the film, the film was directed by stiles white and was co-written by white and Juliet snowden.

He also starred in the series The Red band society, it was a comedy- drama series which aired on Fox, he played the role of Kara’s love interest, but the series was cancelled after just one season.

Throughout his career he has been nominated for several Teen choice awards, with categories ranging from Choice Summer TV star ; Male, Teen Choice Award, Choice TV Actor, Choice TV Breakout star ; Male and in 2009 he won the award for Choice Summer TV star ; Male, all nominations were based on his work for The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
