His mother, Barbara, is of Polish descent and immigrated to the United States, while his father, Norah Brooks, worked in an office setting. After his parents separated when he was seven, Darin moved with his mother to New Jersey, where he spent the rest of his childhood and teenage years.
Brooks attended Saint Paul’s School in New Jersey, where his passion for acting flourished. An enthusiastic supporter of theater arts, he participated in numerous school productions and quickly became known for his dedication and talent. Encouraged by the support of his peers and teachers, he decided to pursue acting as a career.
Brooks began taking acting classes after high school and started booking work as an extra in various film and television productions. To support himself financially, he also worked as a model. His first credited role came in 2005 in the short film Staring at the Sun, where he appeared as one of the smokers.
That same year, he landed a significant role on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives, portraying Max Brady, a character he played until 2010. This role brought him mainstream recognition and critical acclaim, including a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series.
