David Attenborough

David Attenborough is a natural historian and English broadcaster known for writing and presenting the BBC natural history documentary series that form The Life Collection; which is a comprehensive survey of animal and plant life on planet Earth. David Frederick Attenborough was born on May 8, 1926, in Isleworth, Middlesex, England. Attenborough attended Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys in Leicester and attended Claire College, Cambridge, where he studied geology and zoology earning a degree in natural sciences. David Attenborough has been called the greatest broadcaster of our time; his wildlife film-making has brought him international fame and he is often cited as an example of what public broadcasting should be. Attenborough narrated the BBC One wildlife series, Wildlife on One, which ran for two hundred and fifty three episodes from 1977 to 2005; the show attracted a weekly audience of eight to ten million.

David Attenborough was named one of the 100 Greatest Britons in 2002 and is considered by many to be a national treasure. David Attenborough’s television credits span nearly seventy years; his autobiography, Life on Air was published in 2002. David Attenborough married Jane Elizabeth Ebsworth Oriel in 1950; she died in 1997. The couple had two children, Robert and Susan.
