Debbie Ann McGee is an English television, radio, and stage performer who was born on October 31, 1958, in Kingston upon Thames, in the United Kingdom. McGee is best known as the assistant and widow of magician Paul Daniels. She attended Our Lady Immaculate RC Primary School in Tolworth, and then Tolworth Girls' School, a secondary school. McGee was talented at ballet and when she was 16 she won a place at the Royal Ballet School.
Upon graduating from the Royal Ballet school, McGee joined the Iranian National Ballet Company in Tehran. By age 19 she was part of the Corps de Ballet before her career was interrupted by the Iranian Revolution. McGee fled the country and returned to the UK. She had little to no money at the time and took an audition for the Bernard Delfont Organization. It was the Deflont Organization that would change the course of McGee's life by getting her a job performing on stage with her future husband, magician Paul Daniels. She first began performing with Daniels in his 1979 summer show in Great Yarmouth. The pair got married in April of 1988 in Buckinghamshire. McGee won the 2017 Magic Circle's Maskelyne award "for services to British magic". Her husband also received the same award the year the two were married.
