Debbie Ann McGee, born on October 31, 1958, in Kingston upon Thames, United Kingdom, is an English television, radio, and stage performer. She is widely recognized as the assistant and widow of renowned magician Paul Daniels. McGee attended Our Lady Immaculate RC Primary School in Tolworth and went on to study at Tolworth Girls' School. Displaying talent in dance from an early age, she earned a place at the Royal Ballet School at the age of 16.
After graduating, McGee joined the Iranian National Ballet Company in Tehran. By 19, she had risen to the position of corps de ballet. However, her ballet career was abruptly cut short due to the outbreak of the Iranian Revolution. Forced to flee the country, McGee returned to the United Kingdom with limited financial resources.
Back in the UK, McGee auditioned for the Bernard Delfont Organisation, which played a pivotal role in reshaping her career. Through this opportunity, she was cast to perform on stage alongside magician Paul Daniels in his 1979 summer show in Great Yarmouth. This professional partnership marked the beginning of a long-running collaboration that would later evolve into a personal relationship.
Debbie McGee married Paul Daniels in April 1988 in Buckinghamshire. Over the years, the duo became one of Britain's most recognized magic acts, with McGee serving as both assistant and prominent stage partner in many of Daniels’ televised and live performances.
