Diego Michael Sanchez was born on December 31, 1981 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He started learning martial arts since he was a kid, however professionally, he started via training with Jackson's Submission Fighting. Alluded to as a relentless warrior, Sanchez made his debut introduction in 2002 in the Ring of Fire 5 which he proceeded to win by compelling Michael Johnson into submission. His next battle was against Jesus Sanchez whom he vanquished by means of knockout in the Aztec Challenge. He won the KOTC Welterweight Championship in 2004 in the wake of overcoming Jorge Santiago by decision.
