They then had a dating relationship in high school with was on and off because they both had to deal with their teenage lives. Bentley came to Nashville when he was 19 and Cassidy moved to San Francisco. It was tough but they had a long distance relationship for a long time as they tried to figure out their own lives.
Bentley used to send her a lot of love letters through FedEx in an effort to keep their relationship strong. Bentley joked that he agreed to the marriage because he was afraid that she would blackmail him with those letters. Cassidy said that she saved all the letters from her sweet boyfriend. She joked that she would sell them on eBay one day.
In an interview with All Access Music Group, Bentley spoke about his charity work. At the Country Radio Seminar in 2018, Bentley was honored with the CRB Artist Humanitarian Award for all of his contributions and services in the charity field. He was asked how he felt about being honored with award and what his favorite charity causes are, “That's awesome. I'm looking at that motorcycle back there at the back of the room, and it reminds me of "Miles And Music For Kids," which is something we did for ten years. It was started for Vanderbilt Children's Hospital back when this town was still pretty quiet 12 years ago. Vanderbilt needed money, and so we were able to start writing some checks over there. The last one we did two years ago, we were able to raise over $600,000 that day. It had been ten years, though, and I called everyone I knew so we could put a cap on it. It was such a collaborative effort, and it is awesome to be honored.
Bentley is very humble and does not want to take the credit all to himself. He understands that nothing can get done without the help of all the people around him, “It gives me a chance to honor all the people that were involved in making that happen. It takes a lot of people! All the police departments, and all the volunteers, and the bands, and vendors. So many people gave their time and their expertise to make that show happen every year. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. So, to be able to go and get on the microphone and just thank everyone - I think anytime you win anything, you just want to be able to thank people. This really means a lot.”
Bentley and his wife Cassidy enjoy raising their children together. They have two daughters born in 2008 and 2010. They also have a son that was born on October 9, 2013. The family currently lives in Nashville with their dog, George. Unfortunately their other dog Jake, who was featured in numerous album covers and videos from Dierk passed away on July 10th, 2016.
