Background

Frederick Dierks Bentley was born on November 20, 1975 in Phoenix, Arizona. His parents were Leon Bentley and Catherine Childs. His father Leon, worked as a vice president for a bank. His mother Catherine stayed home to raise him. Dierks middle name, which he now uses as his first name, is also his great grandmother's surname. 

Dierks went to Culver Academies and later graduated from the Lawrenceville School in 1993. He also attended the University of Vermont for a year and then later he transferred to Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. He graduated from there in 1997.

Music Career

Throughout his career, Bentley has released 18 singles, out of which 11 are very popular on the music charts. Bentley’s music career has been very successful. His first two albums, the self-titled Dierks Bentley released in 2003, and Modern Day Drifter released in 2005, were both certified platinum by the RIAA. Each album had numerous songs that would reach #1 on the billboard's Hot Country Songs charts.

In 2005, Dierks Bentley won the Country Music Association Award for the Horizon Award which is now called the Best New Artist and was invited to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry. The Opry is a weekly country music stage concert which showcases famous country music artists from around the globe. Being invited to join is one of country music's crowning achievements. Bentley’s induction took place on October 1, 2005. Bentley stands as the third youngest member after Carrie Underwood and Josh Turner.

Bentley has numerous awards and nominations under his belt. He has been nominated for a Grammy award 13 times, but has yet to win one. He has also won many County Music Association awards, and has been nominated for dozens of them over the years. Such awards as Best Album of the Year, Country Music Song of the Year, Best Country Music Album, Top New Artist, Favorite Male Country Artist, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Best New Artist have been awarded to him. Bentley really has become one of the best country music artists in the country,

Girl of His Dreams

Bentley got married to a woman named Cassidy Black in 2005. He has three kids with his loving wife. Cassidy was his roommate for long a long time before they decided on the big step of getting married. They met each other early in life when they were both in the 8th grade. He said that he had a crush on her the moment he saw her. He said that he thought he was not cool enough to ask her to be his girlfriend as he was too much into beer, guns and other things that he didn’t think were attractive to a girl like her. Cassidy said that when she first met him, he was dating her best friend. Though he was in a relationship, Bentley couldn’t resist falling in love with her.
