Dion Lewis was born in 1990 and is a former American football running back. A native of New York, he attended Albany High School before transferring to Albany Academy and later Blair Academy in New Jersey. At Blair Academy, Lewis led the football team to a remarkable 17-1 record over his final two seasons, securing both the New Jersey Prep State and the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) championship titles.
Lewis played college football at the University of Pittsburgh, where he became a standout performer as a freshman in 2009. During that season, he appeared in all twelve regular-season games and rushed for 1,640 yards with 17 rushing touchdowns. One of his most notable performances came in a game against Rutgers, where he ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a 100-yard rushing game against Syracuse. His exceptional debut season earned national recognition, and he was considered a potential Heisman Trophy candidate.
Dion Lewis was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles as the 149th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year contract worth $2.2 million in July 2011. Lewis served primarily as a backup running back during his two seasons in Philadelphia, contributing on special teams and in limited offensive roles.
In 2013, the Eagles traded Lewis to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for linebacker Emmanuel Acho. Unfortunately, Lewis suffered a fractured fibula and was unable to play during the season. He was released by the Browns in 2014. Shortly afterward, he signed briefly with the Indianapolis Colts but did not make the final roster.
