He is the owner of “BaoHaus” a famous Baozi restaurant located in the east village of Manhattan.
Early life:
Eddie Huang was born on 1st March 1982, in Washington. His parents were immigrants from Taiwan. He was raised in Chinatown in Washington but later moved to Orlando, Florida. His father worked as a manager for a well-known steak and seafood restaurants.
Eddie Huang completed his education from The University of Pittsburgh and The Rollins College. He holds the degree in English and films.
Early part of his career:
After graduating, Huang started working for Chadbourne & Parke, a reputed law firm located in New York City. After working two years as summer Associate, Eddie Huang was hired in firm’s corporate Department in 2008. But soon the great recession hit him hard, and he was laid-off. Under financial crisis, Huang went down a work path and started dealing Marijuana.
After being crumbled beneath financial problems, Eddie Huang picked himself up and decided to become self-employed. For three years, from2006 to 2009, he started his own street wear company called “Hoodman Clothing”.
When still in school, Eddie Huang often visited his father’s workplace. Seeing several chiefs making various cuisines sparked a culinary passion inside his. He also used to watch his mother cook. He also learned from his father, how to be an expect expeditor. His time in restaurants with his father taught Eddie Huang many things about the food industry.
After gaining all the knowledge in food biz that he can, Eddie Huang in December of 2009 opened his own restaurant in Manhattan – “BaoHaus” which specializes in preparing traditional Taiwanese Buns. He also tried to open a second restaurant – “Xiao Ye”, but his plans for expansion of his business failed which resulted in his second restaurant shutting down.
Eddie Huang also being a skilled writer created his own blog “fresh off the boat”. Later along with Random House publishers, Eddie Huang released “fresh off the boat: a Memoir” in the start of 2013. For his work as an author, he received positive reviews from Publishers weekly and also from The New York Times.
The fame and reputation as a successful restaurateur that Huang achieved in few years, granted him the ticket to the big screen in 2011. That year he hosted Cheap Bites, a culinary show on Cooking Channel.

Eddie Huang has always been secretive about his life. Although some information about his love life is known but their accuracy cannot be confirmed. Eddie Huang is not married or have any children. In his biography, Eddie Huang states that he wants to wait for someone perfect to be his wife otherwise the relationship will definitely end in divorce.
