Chelsea Field is an American actress who is most famous for her role as Teela in the 1987 film “Masters of the Universe.” Chelsea is also known for her dancing and appeared on television’s “Airwolf” as a dancer.
Early years
Chelsea Field was born Kimberly A. Botfield on May 27, 1957, in Glendale, California. Chelsea’s father is Will Botfield and it is said that he once bought a horse, “Lady in Red” from the famous actor William Shatner. Chelsea has never talked a lot about her mother, whose name is not known to the public. She does not have any siblings. Chelsea attended and graduated from Crescenta Valley High School. Field recalls spending more of her childhood at her family's barn than at home; she began riding horses at a young age because of her father, who was a horse trainer. Chelsea was a natural athlete and her youth was filled with ice skating, trick riding, gymnastics and track, but it was the jazz classes she took, at the age of 17 that inspired her to dance professionally. It is also believed that she wanted to be an actress from a very young age.
Career
Chelsea began her professional career as a dancer, performing in commercials and live stage shows. Chelsea says that she was really a “gypsy for ten years” and that it was her two year gig as a “Solid Gold” dancer that proved to be her stepping stone to greater things. Her first movie was Commando which was released in 1985. She went on acting in many movies like Dust Devil, The Wrong Woman, Flipper, Death Spa, Prison, Skin Deep and others. Chelsea’s first big break into acting came when she was cast in the role of Teela, He-Man’s sidekick, in the film “Masters of the Universe.” All that dancing paid off because the role was very physical and Chelsea says “it was perfect for me.” The next turn in her career came when she earned the role of Bruce Willis’ neglected wife in the film “The Last Boy Scout.” Chelsea was able to work with producer Joel Silver and director Tony Scott and that experience led her to work steadily in high profile features. Field played the sexy but quiet role of Virginia Slim opposite Don Johnson and Mickey Rourke in “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.” Field's television work includes the James A. Michener's "Texas" miniseries, the award-winning HBO telefilm "Indictment: The McMartin Trial," Showtime's "The Birds II: Land's End" and the CBS movie-of-the-week "The Bachelor's Baby," in which she starred opposite Scott Bakula.
Personal Life
Chelsea Field married Scott Bakula, a renowned actor and director. Bakula is best known for his lead roles in two science-fiction television series: as Sam Beckett on Quantum Leap, and as Captain Jonathan Archer on Star Trek: Enterprise. Scott Bakula and Chelsea have been together for sixteen years. They have two sons, Owen and Wil. In a radio interview, Scott stated that he was married to Chelsea only for a year but has been in love with her for sixteen years. Field dated the four-time Emmy Award nominee for over 15 years before they finally settled down in 2009. Chelsea Field gave birth to her first child, Wil Botfield Bakula, on December 1, 1995 in Los Angeles. Scott Bakula, her boyfriend and now husband, was the boy’s father. The couple had their second child, Owen Barrett Bakula, in 1999. Field and her husband have managed to keep their marital life far away from the media. And other than the names and birth dates, her children are kept away from the media as well.

Scott was previously married and had been divorced for fourteen years when he married Chelsea Field. There is no evidence as to whether she was in a relationship with Scott when he was still married. There were no rumors about their relationship being the reason for Scott’s divorce with his first wife, with whom he has two children. Field was not known to have been married or engaged before meeting Scott. Scott was her first boyfriend and now, they are a happy couple. She has never associated with any extra marital affair rumors.
Current
Chelsea co-stars with her husband, Scott Bakula, in "NCIS: New Orleans” where she plays assistant District Attorney Rita Deveraux. Bakula talks about working with Chelsea in an interview he had with Gayle King: "We've worked together before, it's not the first time," he said. "And I absolutely adore having her there, because I commute basically back and forth between L.A. and New Orleans, so when she's down there I have her to myself! So we get time together during the season, which we don't get a lot of. And most importantly she works me. She pushes me to be better, because she's basically a more disciplined, better actor than I am. And so she's always asking me questions and she's leading me to discoveries. And on a TV show you don't really rehearse, you just go. And so, because we live together, we can talk about things, we can fly on the plane and talk about a scene: What do you want to do? So we get a lot more opportunity to explore things. And in that exploring I do better work. So I'm very lucky."
Chelsea Field currently lives in the Hollywood Hills and enjoys rigorous dance classes and horseback riding whenever possible. For future challenges, she admits, "I would love to do a film that combines my dancing, singing and acting.”
Although she is very active on her social media sites which allows for her fans to get to know more about her, she is not known to have given any personal interviews about her romantic or marital life.
