Scott Bakula

American actor Scott Stewart Bakula was born on October 9, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri. Scott, along with his sister and brother were raised by their parents J. Stewart Bakula and Sally Bakula. Scott studied at the Jefferson College and after graduation he entered to the University of Kansas. His passion to a theatre began from his youth, he liked to watch the plays and craved to become an actor. One day during his studying at the University of Kansas he got a chance to join the tour of a musical Godspell. He accepted the invitation and he left the University.

In 1976 Scott Bakula moved to New York and actively participated in different plays, namely Marilyn: An American Fable, Three Guys Naked from the Waist Down, Nightclub Confidential. His tour with a Godspell and his work in New York attracted a lot of attention, and eventually he was offered to work on TV.

His first roles were episodic (one episode in Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color and one episode in My Sister Sam), but Scott impressed producers with his talent and soon in 1986 he received a regular role of Hunt Stevenson in a television series Gung Ho. During his work in Gung Ho he also played in Designing Women as Ted Shively.

From 1987 to 1989 he appeared in several TV shows and series: CBS Summer Playhouse (1987), Matlock (1987), The Last Fling (1987) and Eisenhower and Lutz (1988). However, his first hit role was in 1989 when he received an invitation to play a physicist Dr. Sam Beckett in a science fiction television series Quantum Leap. The plot described an exciting story about time traveling of Dr. Sam Beckett and his attempts to correct the events that happened in the past.

For this role he won Viewers for Quality Television award five times in a row (in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994). In 1992 he won a Golden Globe Award in the category of the Best Actor in a Television Drama Series. Scott Bakula was also nominated for Primetime Emmy Award four times and had three nominations for Golden Globe Award. Quantum Leap has been aired on NBC from March 1989 to May 1993 (97 episodes in total).

After this role Bakula became a celebrity. His roles became more serious and the paycheck became much higher. Since 1990 Scott has begun acting in films, raising his popularity.

The second hit role of Scott Bakula was in 2001. He played Captain Jonathan Archer in a science fiction TV series Star Trek: Enterprise. Scott has starred in that series for five years (98 episodes in total) and was nominated for Saturn Awards three times for the Best Actor on Television (in 2002, 2003 and 2004).
