William Shatner is a Canadian actor, producer, director, and singer who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk on the Star Trek television series and film franchise. Star Trek chronicled the interplanetary adventures of the starship USS Enterprise, a space exploration vessel built by the United Federation of Planets, in the twenty third century. The original series spawned an animated series, four sequel series, two prequel series, thirteen feature length movies, and innumerable books, games, toys and comics. William Shatner was born on March 22, 1931, in Montreal, Quebec. After graduating from McGill University, Shatner joined the Canadian National Repertory Theatre in Ottawa, where he was trained as a Shakespearean actor. Throughout his sixty year career, William Shatner has appeared in over twenty films and thirty television shows.
