Courtney Thorne Smith is an American actress who was born on November 8, 1967, in San Francisco, California. She grew up in a suburb of San Francisco called Menlo Park with her father, Walter Smith, and her mother, Lora Thorne. When Smith was seven, her parents divorced and she spent time going back and forth between parents. Smith attended Menlo-Atherton High School, in Atherton, California. She went on to graduate from Tamalpais High School, in Mill Valley, California in 1985. Smith made her film debut in the 1986 film "Lucas" with Winona Ryder, Corey Haim, Charlie Sheen. Her acting career took off from there with several more roles in the late 1980s. She appeared in "Welcome to 18" in 1986, "Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise" in 1987, "Summer School" in 1987 and "Side Out" in 1990. In 2009 she was in "Chairman of the Board" with Carrot Top and in 2009 she was in "Sorority Wars".
Smith made her television debut in the 1980s series "Growing Pains" and "Fast Times" but would become best known for her starring role as Alison Parker on "Melrose Place" from 1992 to 1997. She married geneticist Andrew Conrad in June of 2000 but divorced the following year. Smith went on to marry Roger Fishman on January 1, 2007, who she had her first child with, a boy named Jacob Emerson Fishman.
