Deron Williams was born in 1984 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. During his childhood, he excelled in both basketball and wrestling. By the age of eight, Williams won the Texas State Wrestling Championship in the 67-pound weight class. Four years later, he won another title in the 116-pound category.
Williams attended The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas, where he was a standout basketball player. As a junior in 2001, he led the Cougars to a 32–2 record and a trip to the Class 5A semifinals.
