Eliana Johnson, a Jewish American conservative journalist, was born in 1984 in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. She is the daughter of Sally Johnson and Scott W. Johnson. Her father, Scott, is one of the co-founders of Power Line, a well-known American political blog established by three Dartmouth-educated lawyers. Eliana has two sisters and graduated from Yale University in 2006 with a degree in history.
Johnson began her career in journalism as a producer for Fox News. While there, she worked primarily on "Hannity," the primetime television program hosted by Sean Hannity. She also held the position of research associate at the Council on Foreign Relations. Earlier in her career, she worked as a staff reporter at The New York Sun, where she covered political and cultural affairs.
Johnson joined National Review, a prominent conservative magazine, as a media editor. She quickly ascended within the publication and was promoted to Washington Editor in August 2014. In this role, Johnson was responsible for leading the magazine's political reporting from the capital, contributing to its national influence in conservative media and policy analysis.
In November 2016, Johnson moved to Politico, where she served as a National Political Reporter. At Politico, she covered major developments involving the Republican Party, the White House, and national political strategy. Her reporting focused on providing in-depth analyses of political dynamics in Washington, D.C., grounded in her conservative media background.
