Georgie Henley, born Georgina Helen Henley in 1995, is an English actress best known for her portrayal of Lucy Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia film series. She was born in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, to parents Mike and Helen Henley. Georgie has two older sisters, Laura and Rachael Henley. Notably, Rachael portrayed the older version of Lucy Pevensie in the first Narnia film.
Henley attended Moorfield School for Girls before continuing her education at Bradford Grammar School. From a young age, she demonstrated a passion for performance, which led to early involvement in school and community theater.
Henley made her professional acting debut in 2005 in the role of Lucy Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Based on the classic novel by C.S. Lewis, the film was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over $745 million worldwide. Her performance earned her the Phoenix Film Critics Society Award for Best Performance by a Youth – Female in a Lead or Supporting Role.
Following the success of the first film, she reprised her role in the sequels The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008) and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010), further solidifying her place as a recognizable face in the fantasy film genre.
Outside of the Narnia franchise, Henley also performed in theater and television. She appeared as Jane in a stage production of Babes in the Wood by the Upstagers Theatre Group, which ran until 2006. Additionally, she took on the role of Scaramouche in a 2013 school production of We Will Rock You at Bradford Grammar School.
Georgie starred as Young Jane Eyre in the 2006 BBC adaptation of Jane Eyre, showcasing her range in period drama. In 2014, she took on a darker role in Perfect Sisters, a film based on the real-life story of two Canadian sisters who planned and carried out the murder of their mother.
Henley began auditioning for roles at the age of seven and landed her first major role at ten. She has spoken about her close friendships with fellow Narnia co-stars Ben Barnes, Anna Popplewell, William Moseley, and Skandar Keynes. While there were rumors suggesting she dated William Moseley, both parties clarified that they were simply good friends.
Unlike many public figures of her generation, Henley maintains a low profile on social media. She does not have official Instagram or Twitter accounts, although fan-run profiles do exist. There was a past incident involving a falsely attributed account, but it has since been clarified as unofficial.
Georgie Henley's early success in The Chronicles of Narnia franchise significantly contributed to her estimated net worth of $6 million. With a career that began in her childhood and includes award-winning performances, she remains a respected figure in British film and stage acting.
