Anna Katherine Popplewell was born on December 16, 1988, in London, England. She comes from a family with notable achievements in various professional fields. Her father, Andrew Popplewell, is a Court of Appeal judge, and her mother, Debra Lomas, is a dermatologist. Her siblings, Lulu and Freddie Popplewell, have also pursued acting in varying capacities. Her grandfather, Sir Oliver Popplewell, was a prominent judge, while her uncle, Nigel Popplewell, played professional cricket for Somerset.
Anna attended North London Collegiate School, a highly regarded independent school for girls. She later matriculated at Magdalen College, Oxford, where she studied English literature.
