Jannero Pargo, born on October 22, 1979, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American professional basketball player. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong passion for basketball, which led him to pursue the sport both academically and professionally. He began his collegiate basketball career at Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas, in 2000. Later, he transferred to the University of Arkansas, where he continued developing his skills and aspired to play professionally.
After graduating in 2002, Pargo was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers, marking the start of his NBA career. He played 47 games with the Lakers until 2004 and was known for his shooting skills and quick pace. Following his stint with the Lakers, he briefly joined the Toronto Raptors in 2004, appearing in five games. Later that year, Pargo signed with the Chicago Bulls, where he played until 2006. During his time with the Bulls, he appeared in 102 games—the highest number in his NBA career—and recorded a career-high 13.5 points in a single game.
In 2007, Pargo joined the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. His performance gained traction during the 2008 NBA Playoffs, where he filled in for injured teammate Chris Paul. Pargo averaged 10.3 points over 12 playoff games and contributed vital three-pointers in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs.
Following his performance in the NBA, Pargo signed a one-year contract worth $3.8 million with Russian League team Dynamo Moscow for the 2008–2009 season. However, he left the team in January 2009 after securing a buyout and subsequently signed with Greek League club Olympiacos Piraeus. His tenure there was brief, contributing an average of 3.5 points and 1.4 assists per game in the EuroLeague before being released.
Pargo returned to the Chicago Bulls in July 2009 but was hampered by a knee injury that affected his performance. Shortly after, he had a brief second stint with the New Orleans Hornets. Due to ongoing recovery issues and diminishing form, he was released from the team.
Pargo married Malaysia Pargo (born Laquisha Gilbert) in 2006. The couple had three children together—a seven-year-old and a set of three-year-old twins at the time of their separation. Malaysia later became known for her appearance on the reality TV series Basketball Wives LA. The couple separated in December 2012, and their divorce was finalized in 2014.
The divorce settlement included child support payments of $15,380 per month, spousal support of $7,500 per month, and an additional $25,000 toward Malaysia’s attorney fees, which impacted Pargo's financial stability. His estimated net worth is $4.5 million, with an annual salary of approximately $2 million during his professional peak.
Pargo maintains an active presence on social media. With the Twitter handle @jpargo1, he has over 5,800 followers and occasionally updates his fans on his activities and interests.
