<p>Lexa Doig, born <a href="/biography/lexa-doig">Alexandra Lecciones Doig</a> on June 8, 1973, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian actress known for her work in science fiction television and film. As a child, she trained in gymnastics and became interested in acting at the age of nine after watching a theatrical production of <em>Porgy and Bess</em>. By sixteen, she was offered modeling representation and subsequently left high school to pursue a career in entertainment.</p>

<h2>Television and Film Career</h2>

<p>Doig first gained screen experience as a co-host of the Canadian game show <em>Video & Arcade Top 10</em>, which she hosted from 1991 until 1996. Her on-screen acting debut came in 1993 with an appearance on the television series <em>The Hidden Room</em>, followed by her film debut in <em>Jungleground</em> in 1995.</p>

<p>Her breakout role came in 2000 when she began starring as the title character in the science fiction series <em>Andromeda</em>, a role she held through 2005. She also appeared in the 2001 horror film <em>Jason X</em>, part of the <em>Friday the 13th</em> franchise, further solidifying her place in the sci-fi and genre television space.</p>

<h2>Personal Life and Philanthropy</h2>
