Lexa Doig, born Alexandra Lecciones Doig on June 8, 1973, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian actress known for her work in science fiction television and film. As a child, she trained in gymnastics and became interested in acting at the age of nine after watching a theatrical production of Porgy and Bess. By sixteen, she was offered modeling representation and subsequently left high school to pursue a career in entertainment.
Doig first gained screen experience as a co-host of the Canadian game show Video & Arcade Top 10, which she hosted from 1991 until 1996. Her on-screen acting debut came in 1993 with an appearance on the television series The Hidden Room, followed by her film debut in Jungleground in 1995.
Her breakout role came in 2000 when she began starring as the title character in the science fiction series Andromeda, a role she held through 2005. She also appeared in the 2001 horror film Jason X, part of the Friday the 13th franchise, further solidifying her place in the sci-fi and genre television space.
Lexa Doig met her husband, actor Michael Shanks, on the set of Andromeda in 2001. The couple married on August 2, 2003, and have two children together. Shanks also has a child from a previous relationship. Both Doig and Shanks are actively involved with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, supporting initiatives for research and advocacy.
Following Andromeda, Doig joined the cast of Stargate SG-1 from 2005 to 2007. She later played a recurring role in the Canadian sci-fi drama Continuum from 2012 to 2015. More recently, she appeared as Talia al Ghul in the television series Arrow and held a main role in the E! drama The Arrangement.
