Michael Shanks

Michael Shanks is known as a Canadian actor, writer and film director. He is most famous for playing Dr. Daniel Jackson in the long-running Canadian–American military science fiction television series called Stargate SG-1.

Michael Garrett Shanks was born on December 15, 1970 in Vancouver, Canada.

Career

He bares a resemblance to his Stargate feature film counterpart James Spader, whose character, Dr. Daniel Jackson, he portrays on the television edition, Stargate SG-1. It was speculated that the producers of the show wanted him on the show because of how much he looked to the film version of his character.

Besides his famous run on Stargate, Michael is also famous for playing Dr. Charles Harris on the Canadian medical drama, Saving Hope.

Personal Life

Michael has been married to his loving wife, Lexa Doig since August 2, 2003. They have two wonderful children that they raise together. Michael was previously in a committed relationship with a woman named Vaitiare Hirshon. He had a daughter with her named Vaitiare Hirshon. She was born in 1998 and is Michael’s oldest child.

His favorite hockey team is the Vancouver Canucks and he tries to catch as many games of theirs as he can when he has down time.
