Louise Mary Minchin is a British journalist and news presenter who presently works freelance for the BBC.
Minchin has been a frequent anchor on BBC One's Breakfast since 2006, co-hosting the show three days a week with Dan Walker. Minchin announced live on air on June 8, 2021, that she would be quitting BBC Breakfast "after the summer," following 20 years as host. On September 15, 2021, she made her final appearance on the show.
Minchin co-hosted Real Rescues with Nick Knowles and Chris Hollins from 2009 to 2012. She has appeared on The One Show as a guest host several times since 2010.
Louise Mary Minchin was born on September 8, 1968, in Hong Kong. Her father was a major in the Irish guards of the British army. Louise was educated at St Mary's School in Ascot. She received a degree in Spanish from the University of St Andrews. She also studied journalism at the London College of Communication.
Louise started to develop her love for journalism during the early phases of her working career. She traveled a lot after her university education, and she got involved in Operation Raleigh by becoming a translator in Chile. She conducted many interviews and realized that she was best suited for interviewing people on the radio. She studied Radio Journalism at the London College of Printing. She revealed that her first love of journalism reporting was the radio. The medium would become the starting point of her career. After working for eight years on the radio, she broadened her horizons to television.
On June 6, 1998, Louise married David Minchin. The couple lives near Chester with their two daughters.
As an amateur, she is a triathlete who qualified for the 2015 Great Britain Age-Group Triathlon Team (45–49 age group). On September 19, 2015, she competed in the World Triathlon Championships in Chicago in the standard distance race (1500 m swim, 40 km cycle ride, and 10 km run). On June 15, 2015, she qualified for the team at the Dambuster Triathlon at Rutland Water. At the ITU World Triathlon Championships, she finished 71st out of 78 competitors.
Minchin discussed menopause on the BBC Breakfast program in 2019, citing her experience with hot flushes that caused them to reduce the thermostat.

Louise has interviewed several celebrities, business leaders, and political figures around the world. She has also covered many significant events that occurred in the last decades. She took the role of an ambassador for the 'Share Take Care' campaign of BBC to enhance the safety of the internet.
Louise Minchin is an amateur triathlete that always tries to keep her body in top condition. In 2015, she was a member of the Great Britain Age-Group Triathlon Team. She also participated in the standard distance event at the 2015 World Triathlon Championships in Chicago.
Minchin supports SOS Children's Villages, an international orphan charity providing homes and mothers for orphaned and abandoned children. She supports the charity's annual world orphan week campaign, which takes place each February. Minchin helped fund the National Deaf, Blind, and Rubella association when she interviewed celebrity photographer Dave for Deaf and Blind awareness week in 2009. Minchin has also taken part in Around the world in 80 days for Children.
