NBC’s news correspondent, Natalie Morales-Rhodes is currently an anchor on the popular news program, the Today show. Natalie can also be seen on Rock Centre with Brian Williams, and on Dateline, as well as appearances on the NBC Nightly News Broadcasts. She was offered to replace Billy Bush and host ‘Access Hollywood’. She also is an anchor for West Coast.
In the Beginning
Natalie was born in Taipei, Taiwan on June 6, 1972. Her mother is Penelope Morales, a Brazilian national. Her father is Lieutenant Colonel Mario Morales, Jr. of Puerto Rican descent. Natalie grew up living in several countries, including Panama, Spain, and Brazil. Her family moved very frequently because they were following the Lt. Colonel to the different Air Force bases he was stationed at. Because of all of this travelling overseas Natalie speaks English fluently, and Spanish fluently, as well as speaking fluent Portuguese. Her nationality is Taiwanese and Natalie belongs to white ethnicity. Her birth star sign is Gemini.
The Building of a Career
After completion of her schooling, she moved to US and attended Rutgers University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She earned her degree while following dual majors of journalism and in Latin American studies. She joined the Phi Beta Kappa sorority while at Rutgers. When Natalie graduated it was Summa Cum Laude.
Before journalism, Natalie use to work for Chase bank after she completed her college. Her news anchor career began at News 12 in the Bronx. She was the first morning anchor there. While working for News 12, she also worked as the camera operator when needed, the editor and at times she worked as the producer. For two years at Court TV, she worked behind the scene as well. A daily news paper “El Diario La Presna” voted her in top 50 influential Latinas. After working for different stations, Natalie gained more experience and made her name in the industry.

Natalie worked as the weekend anchor and reporter of the WVIT-TV. She was also the morning co-anchor of the same station. WVIT is in Hartford, Connecticut and Natalie was working as a reporter during the time of the Columbine shootings. She also covered the events of Hurricane Floyd and the 200 Presidential elections, while at this station. She was at WTIV during her coverage of the attacks of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.
Save Our Sound
Natalie co-hosted and reported on the documentary named Save Our Sound. This documentary was a joint production with WNBC and it centred on preserving the wildlife and natural habitats of the Long Island Sound.
MSNBC
From 2002 until 2006, Natalie worked as an anchor and as a news correspondent for MSNBC. She covered the 2004 Presidential election during this time. She also covered the 2004 Summer Olympics during this time. She covered prisoner abuse of Iraqis, Operation Iraqi freedom, 2003 Northeast blackout, sniper attacks in Beltway 2002 and Scott Peterson’s trial.
Morales became a member of the Today show in 2006. In March of 2008, she became the third anchor on the Today show. When Ann Curry was chosen to succeed Meredith Vieira as the host of the Today show, Natalie was chosen to replace Ann Curry in her anchor position.
Natalie has covered few major incidents in her carrier like the hurricane “Katrina”, explosion of space shuttle in Colombia, the Tsunami. She has also hosted Miss USA 2010 at Planet Hollywood, Miss Universe 2010 at Mandalay Bay. She again hosted Miss Universe 2011 at Sao Paulo, Brazil and Miss Universe 2014 in Florida.
Along with her carrier in journalism, Natalie also appeared in few movies. In spring of 2014, she played a role of newscaster in Blue Sky’s Rio 2. She appeared in TV film playing the role of herself in Sharknado 3: Oh hell No! In 2015 and in the following year in Sharknado: The 4th Awakens. She also appeared in few other movies like Nashville, Zoolander 2, Pitch Perfect 2 and Los Herederos del Monte.

Natalie is married to Joe Rhodes. The couple was married on August 22, 1998 by Rev. Bossart in Denver, Colorado. Together they have two boys and they live in Hoboken. The eldest son Joseph “Josh” was born in 2003. In 2008, she got pregnant second time and gave birth to their second son, Luke.
Natalie is an avid runner and she participates in many marathons. She has participated in triathlons, along with completing all five marathons and was featured in the October 2010 issue of Triathlete Magazine. She has kept her body fit; she is famous for best body and keeps herself and family healthy.
She has won numerous awards and accolades for her work and for her dedication to truth and fairness. She won “Groundbreaking Latina in Media” award hosted by Catalina Magazine and National Association of Latina Leader in the year 2007. In 2007, People En Espanol declared her first in top 50 beautiful people. She has also won Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding morning programme.
Natalie learned to play Piano from her mother, when she was a child. She is also fan of Skiing and loves Gummy Bears.
