Early Life and Fitness Beginnings
Torrie Anne Wilson was born on July 24, 1975, in Boise, Idaho. During her high school years, she was a strong student and an active cheerleader. Her interest in modeling began in high school, where she quickly garnered attention. However, early pressure from agencies to lose weight led to her struggle with anorexia and bulimia, challenges she confronted until the age of 20.
Seeking a healthier lifestyle, Wilson turned her focus to fitness and began training regularly at the gym. Her dedication paid off in 1998 when she won the title of Miss Galaxy. That same year, she also earned recognition for her physique and grace, setting the stage for her future endeavors in fitness and entertainment.
In 1998, Wilson relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a potential film career. While she landed a few acting roles, her passion for fitness led her into the world of professional wrestling. After attending a wrestling event, she was introduced to industry veteran Kevin Nash, which ultimately led to her debut in World Championship Wrestling (WCW).
Wilson made her wrestling debut under the ring name "Samantha" in a storyline involving David Flair and his father, Ric Flair. She appeared as David Flair’s valet during Bash at the Beach in 1999, where he faced Dean Malenko. Her on-screen involvement with Flair continued until September 1999, before transitioning out of WCW in 2000. She officially ended her WCW contract in 2001.
In June 2001, Torrie Wilson made her WWE debut as part of the Invasion storyline on SmackDown!. Throughout her WWE tenure, she frequently appeared alongside fellow WWE Diva Stacy Keibler. The two eventually found themselves on opposing sides due to a storyline involving Wilson’s alliance with Sable, which fueled a feud with Keibler.
Wilson participated in numerous fan-favorite feuds and matches, often noted for her charisma and athletic presence rather than championship pursuits. She remained with WWE until her release in 2008. During her time with the company, she became one of the most recognized figures in the women’s division, known for both her in-ring performances and high-profile magazine features, including cover appearances for FHM and two issues of Playboy.
In the fall of 2007, Wilson launched a clothing line called Officially Jaded, alongside fellow WWE wrestler Nick Mitchell (known in the ring as Mitch from the Spirit Squad). The pair began dating in 2006 while Wilson was still married to former wrestler Billy Kidman (real name Peter Gruner). She and Kidman finalized their divorce in 2008. From 2011 to 2015, Wilson was in a public relationship with former MLB star Alex Rodriguez.
Though Wilson did not grow up watching wrestling, she became an avid fan during her wrestling career. She has cited Hulk Hogan as one of her personal favorites. Known for her commitment to health and wellness, Wilson follows a rigorous fitness routine that includes at least four workout sessions per week, comprised of one hour of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training.
Her dedication to wellness continues to shape her public persona. Even in her 40s, Wilson maintains a fit, energetic lifestyle. She is also an animal lover and has a pet Maltese dog named Chloe.
