Vera Steimberg Moder is a Hollywood makeup professional born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1973, now living in Los Angeles, California. Unlike most immigrants, Vera Steimberg started her career in Buenos Aires. At the age 25, she had managed to become Oscar Mullet’s apprentice. Seeking greater opportunities, she decided to move on and give a shot in Hollywood. Also, special effects had been her area of interest lately. With all this in mind, she headed to Los Angeles, California.
Career Start
She was indeed a talented professional in her field. It was not hard for her to get the chance she was seeking, and she got her first job as the personal makeup artist for Madonna. From here she participated in several movies, mostly assisting Eddie Murphy, who adopted her as her personal makeup artist too. But being just a makeup artist of some of the most famous actors in Hollywood was not enough. She attempted a really challenging position in the visual effects field. She successfully cast to get into the “Planet of the Apes” movie in 2011, which was more the kind of thing she had pursued before going to the USA.
Besides assisting personally to various celebrity makeup and appearance needs, she has had a prolific career in movies, counting almost 30 credits between 1999 and 2016, as part of the Makeup Department. She has held several positions, from a personal makeup artist of celebrities like Eddie Murphy and Zoe Saldana. She also has held other positions like key makeup artist, makeup department head, hair and makeup artist and special makeup effects artist. She has also worked with many different professional photographers and video camera specialists, and communicationg with them has given her even more ideas and suggestions on how to create new methods that help bring her clients the best possible results for movie and photo purposes.
She was a recipient of several awards over the years including winning several for Argentina in world wide competitions. She has mentioned it is her true love and passion, and without that drive in her life, she couldn’t imagine living life the way she has. Vera has said she focuses on natural looks and at the same time tries to incorporate modern style inspirations that she has gotten over the years. Many of her friends do the same thing, and having a wide swath of friends helps for her to incorporate great ideas that are new a fresh in the landscape of make up art. She has had several articles written up on her in several of the worlds leading make up related magazines. She has mentioned that the odd drama between her husband, her, and a very famous US movie actress has actually spawned a greater following for her. Vera has said her fan base has grown because of the odd circumstances in her life, so she is more then happy to take some form of reward from all the odd drama aspects in her life.

Personal Life
Along with professional success, she fell in love with Daniel Moder, a cameraman who was working on the same set with her at that time. They got married in 1997. Being a very private person, she found her way to fame the hard way. After 5 years of happy marriage, she found his husband cheating on her with the celebrity Julia Roberts while she was about to start filming “El Mexicano”. The paparazzi has played their part, since she found out in a magazine about Julia’s new romance with her husband when she saw some photos of them together. Julia has commented on the situation and claimed that she was not in the know about his relationship, that he was married, and that he was good a deception to not only her, but his wife also.
Growing up was rough for her, since day to day life for the vast majority of people that she was around was very troublesome, whether it was food related, or a secure shelter. She has commented her true desires are to help others and make sure some of the people that were just like her when she was a young woman can have opportunities also. She has helped organize a fund for charity purposes in order to get something started that allows people to get a helping hand and try to follow their dreams. She helped to host the Buenas Aires Relief fund that was setup by a friend that had the goal of creating environments that allow younger students to have access to college and continuing education outside of the standard curriculum.
Divorce Scandal
The drama of her life reached a peak and was brought to the limit on the story when Julia publicly bullied Vera, with a T-Shirt with the phrase “Vera go home” printed on it. It is said that Julia Roberts having a net worth of 170 million dollars, offered half million dollars to Vera so that she signed the divorce papers quickly to let her marry her husband. Vera never confirmed she received any money and this was just held as gossip. Despite her humiliation, Vera declared that Dany was and will always be a womanizer. She predicted Julia would be cheated as she had been Vera and Dany had no children during their time together. The marriage ended in 2002.
