Emily Ratajkowski was born on June 7, 1991, in London, England. Her father, John David "J.D." Ratajkowski, is a painter and art teacher, and her mother, Kathleen Balgley, is a writer and former English professor. Both of her parents are American and of white ethnicity. While living in London, Kathleen taught English, which is where she met Emily’s father. After Emily's birth, the family relocated to San Diego, California, where she was raised.
