George Hamilton is an American film and television actor who was born on August 12, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee to his father, bandleader George "Spike" Hamilton. He grew up in a tumultuous household with several stepfathers and a stepmother. Hamilton attended the Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York where he graduated from in 1957. Hamilton expressed an interest in acting in his early years and he began getting roles on television. He first started to appear on shows like "The Veil", "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin", "The Donna Reed Show", and many more. By 1959, Hamilton earned himself the lead role of a crime film directed by Denis Sanders called "Crime and Punishment U.S.A".
Italian-American director Vincente Minnelli thought that he would be perfect for a role in his film "Home from the Hill" after seeing his performance in "Crime and Punishment U.S.A." Hamilton was soon being offered roles by MGM left and right and for the next decade from 1960 to 1968 he appeared in over a dozen films. He turned to television in 1969-1970 for the show "Harold Robbins' The Survivors" alongside Lana Turner. In 1966, Hamilton briefly had a relationship with the daughter of U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson but he eventually married to actress Alana Stewart from 1972 to 1975. He had one son with Stewart named Ashley Hamilton but their marriage would eventually fail and they would divorce and go their separate ways.
