George Lazenby

George Lazenby is known as an Australian actor and former model. He is most famous for playing Ian Fleming's popular fictional British secret agent James Bond in the film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

George Robert Lazenby was born in September 5, 1939 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia to his parents, Sheila Joan (Bodel) and George Edward Lazenby. He moved to London, England in 1964, after a period of time serving in the Australian Army. Prior to turning into a career as an actor, he filled in as an auto technician, used car sales rep, prestige car sales rep, and as a male model in London, England.

Career

In 1968, Lazenby was given the highly sought out role as "James Bond". He won the top role despite his lack of past acting experience. He had only been in commercials, and his single film appearance was a small part in a 1965 Italian-made Bond parody. At the tender age of 29, Lazenby became the youngest actor to ever play the legendary secret agent, James Bond Bond.

Lazenby won the job based on a screen-test battle scene, the quality of his interviews, fighting competency and audition film. The producers felt they made the right choice.
