Giuliana Rancic is the co-founder of FabFitFun a web site for women’s beauty, health & fitness, and fashion trends that were launched in 2011. Giuliana launched her own clothing line, G by Giuliana Rancic, on the Home Shopping Network, it was the most successful clothing line debut on HSN in 2012.
In 2006, Rancic released her highly-praised book, Think Like A Guy: How to Get a Guy By Thinking Like One. It is a practical and funny handbook of rules on landing the man of your dreams. Her second book, I Do, Now What?: Secrets, Stories, and Advice from a Madly-in-Love Couple was published by Random House and co-authored with her husband, Bill Rancic.
She is also a co-owner of Rancic family restaurants, RPM Italian, and RPM Steak in Chicago.
The couple faced fertility issues and were publicly open about their struggles. To conceive, Giuliana and Bill began IVF transfers but the first time, Giuliana experienced a miscarriage in the ninth month of her pregnancy. In the second IVF transfer attempt, she could not conceive. When they decided to go for IVF for the third time, the doctor suggested a mammogram and that’s when Giuliana was diagnosed with breast cancer. The surprising diagnosis resulted in a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
During an interview on Today, Rancic announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and will be treated with a lumpectomy followed by radiation therapy. After undergoing surgery in October 2011, she resumed her work at E! News. It is commendable that the couple was motivated to have a baby despite Rancic’s condition and planned to have the baby through surrogacy. Their son, Edward Duke Rancic was born on August 29, 2012, in Denver, Colorado.
As their medical challenges were drawing to a close, their outlook began to improve. Rancic spoke about the support they received from friends, “Friends and family moved us into this house while we were in Denver awaiting the arrival of Duke. We stayed in Chicago, where Bill’s family is and where we also have a home, for the duration of my maternity leave. When we returned to Los Angeles, it was into our new home with our new baby. We could bury the bad memories of our former house. This was a fresh start for all of us.”
Rancic created Fab-U-Wish, a program to grant fashion, beauty, and celebrity-themed wishes to women battling breast cancer. This program is just one aspect of her ongoing mission to help those going through hardships to find happiness and a positive outlook on life. She also contributes to other causes like Bright Pink, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Operation Smile, Dress For Success, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago and the Children’s Miracle Networks.
