Gregg Henry, born in 1952 in Lakewood, Colorado, is an American character actor known for his extensive work in film, television, and theatre. In addition to his acting career, he is also a professional musician, with skills in country, blues, and rock genres. His musical talent extends to songwriting and singing, and one of his compositions, "The Back of Your Hand," was recorded by country artist Dwight Yoakam.

Collaboration with Brian De Palma

Henry has had a long-standing collaboration with director Brian De Palma, appearing in more than six of his films. Notable among these is his performance as a villain in Body Double, which remains one of his most recognized roles in film. Others include appearances in De Palma's Scarface, Casualties of War, and Femme Fatale.

Television Career and Notable Roles

Over the years, Gregg Henry has built a substantial television career, with appearances in over 75 television series. His credits include roles in Breakout Kings, Burn Notice, Glee, Castle, The Mentalist, Magnum, P.I., Moonlighting, Falcon Crest, L.A. Law, Matlock, Murder, She Wrote, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Airwolf, 24, Gilmore Girls, Firefly, and The Riches.

He is especially known for his chilling portrayal of serial killer Dennis Rader in the made-for-TV film The Hunt for the BTK Killer. Henry also starred as Detective Carl Reddick in the AMC/Netflix series The Killing, and played recurring roles such as Hollis Doyle in ABC’s political drama Scandal, and Avery in Hell on Wheels. In addition, he appeared as Dobbs in the USA Network series White Collar and had a recurring role in the thriller series The Following.
