Howie Mandel was born in the year 1955 on 29th of November. His birth name was Howard Michael Howie Mandel. He is Jewish and he was born and lived in Toronto, Ontario. Mandel’s father was a lighting manufacturer and a real estate agent. And so he had a safe childhood economically. Mandel attended the William Lyon Mackenzie collegiate institute. Since he impersonated a school board member for a construction contract, Mandel got expelled from his high school. Mandel became a carpet salesman after got expelled from high school. But his vision made him to enter carpet sales business on his own. Surprisingly, he discovered his talent as a comedian himself. And this fact took him to the stage in Yuk Yuk’s in Toronto as a stand-up comedian. Mandel’s first character on stage was billed as “a wild and crazy borderline psychotic”. And this character brought him a new life. Later he travelled to Los Angeles and got a standard stage there.
Entry into television
Day-by-day Mandel’s performance got huge applause and overwhelming audience. This fact attracted a comedic game show producer. He booked Mandel for several appearances as he got a wide talent in comedy. Through these performances, he drew numerous producers in 1979. This sudden fame took him to the television shows. In 1980, Mandel won the lead role in the Canadian movie Gas. And he also got the fame of First Vee-jay to appear on Nickelodeon’s music video series.

Since he marked his success on early television shows, he got the national attention. The character ‘Dr. Wayne Fiscus’ drew a lot of friends and fame to him. His continuous hits in Gremlins, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, The Iceman Hummeth and A Fine Mess are one of a kind. The opportunities on television has wide opened for him through animated series “Bobby’s World”. However the most promising success came to him through the episodes of “Deal or No Deal”. More to the news, he hosted his own syndicated talk show “The Howie Mandel Show” in 1998. Later he eventually gave up the opportunities after diagnosed with a perforated sinus. And this can be considered as a setback in his career. He seems to be earning a massive amount of salary and his net worth is to be around $40 million.
Family
Mandel married his wife Terry Soil in 1980 and got two daughters Jackie and Riley and son Alex in their house. His family expanded further by adopting two of his nephews Austin and Zack Mandel without giving them the option of divorce. The well-known fact, Mandel is a distant cousin of Itzhak Perlman. Perlman is an Israeli – American violinist and composer.
Later life
After being so famous, Mandel revealed his Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in 2008. And further he worked to raise the adult ADHD awareness among the general public. And still there are more controversies to add up in his biography. Later Mandel found to have Mysophobia. This pathological fear of contamination or germs made him harder on stage performances. Later in 2011 he admitted that he has struggled with these medical conditions since childhood.
So far this Canadian comedian is successful as being an actor, television host and voice actor. Despite of all his medical conditions, Mandel found his dreams realized.
