Hunter McGrady is an American fashion model who was born on May 4, 1993, in Los Angeles, California, in the United States. McGrady comes from a family of entertainers with her father Michael McGrady being known for his roles in hit television shows including Showtime's "Ray Donovan", "Southland", and "American Crime Story". She grew up with a sister named Michaela and both her grandmother and aunt were former models. McGrady sought to become a model at age 16 but was told by fashion agencies she needed to lose 3 inches off her hips. She starved herself to lose the weight and became a size 0 model. During her teenage years, McGrady struggled to stay thin and became depressed. By the time she reached age 18, she realized that her body was not meant to be thin and decided to accept herself for who she was.
McGrady grew to a size 16 body and has found success as a plus-size fashion model. She went on to become the curviest model in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition in 2017. She also decided to create her own line of plus-sized swimwear called Playful Promises for women who have fewer style options due to their size.
