India De Beaufort, born India Beaufort Lloyd in 1987, is a British singer-songwriter and actress. She was born at Kingston Hospital in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England. Her mother, Karen De Beaufort, hails from Liverpool, while her father, Nick Lloyd, was born in London. Both parents, born in 1959, were professional dancers who appeared on various British television shows during the 1970s and 1980s. India has an older brother named Thomas Beaufort Lloyd.
India's early exposure to the entertainment industry began at a young age. In 1994, she appeared in the music video for Lulu's "Every Woman Knows." Two years later, in 1996, she made a brief appearance as an orphaned child in an episode of the television series Next of Kin, featuring Penelope Keith. She later attended Esher College in Surrey, England.
At age 15, De Beaufort signed with Entertainment Rights as an actress, singer, and songwriter. That same year, she was cast as one of the lead characters in the CBBC series The Basil Brush Show, playing the role of India Beau. The show was nominated for a BAFTA Award and gained widespread popularity among young audiences.
During her time on the show, she filmed three seasons and contributed musically, performing the Christmas single "Boom Boom, It’s Basil Brush" as a featured artist. The song charted in the UK for over three weeks, peaking at number 44. De Beaufort also performed at BBC Proms in the Park and participated in a national tour as part of the show's promotional events.
