Jack Black’s parents were satellite engineers. His father was British German while his mother was a Jew. Unfortunately his parents divorced when he was only ten years old. Jack Black is married to Tanya Haden, who is the daughter of the legendary Jazz maestro Charlie Haden. The two met in high school where they studied at a private school. After fifteen years they met again when they were invited to a friend’s birthday party. They started dating and within a year, they eloped and got married in California. His wife was born as part of a triplet and they used to belong to a band called ‘That Dog’. They have two children who were born when he was 36 and 38.

Professional Career

His career on screen has been extensive since he started acting in 1982 when he was 13. He first did an advertisement for a video game called ‘Pitfall’. As an adult, he has appeared in major prime time shows on TV, which include: The X-files, Life Goes On, Picket fences, Northern Exposure, The golden palace and Mr. Show.

He has also played some lead roles in major comic movies. These include; High Fidelity which involved John Cusack, Year One, Nacho Libre, Gulliver’s Travels, and Shallow Hall. He also got a nomination for the Golden Globe Award after acting in the movie ‘School of Rock’. He also appeared in the remake of the movie King Kong. One of the major appearances was the voicing of Kung Fu Panda which bagged him a cool 2 Million USD. He also appeared in Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3. His next appearance was on the movie ‘The Big Year’.

Accomplishments and Disappointments

Jack Black is a founding member of the band ‘Tenacious D’, which plays some comic rock. In the year 2002, he hosted the MTV Awards. He is a big fan for wrestling. He was considered for a part in the movie Red Dragon but he failed to get a place. He also played a part in the movie ‘Heat Vision and Jack’ which was never aired.

He has had his gall bladder removed. He used to date actor Laura Kightlinger between 1997 and 2005. He has also taken some small roles in the movies; The cable guy, Dead Man Walking, Enemy of the State, Mars Attacks and The Jackal. He took a role as a security guard in the movie ‘True Romance’ but the scene never got to see the light of day.
