Jaime King

King began her modeling career at the age of 14 and quickly rose to prominence in the fashion industry. In 1993, she appeared in top fashion magazines including Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Mademoiselle. During the early phase of her career, she went by the names James King and Jamie King—nicknames used to distinguish her from another model, Jaime Rishar, who was already represented by her agency at the time.

To pursue modeling full time, King left Westside High School and moved to New York City. She continued her education through a home-study program affiliated with the University of Nebraska. She also attended Nancy Bounds' Studio of Modeling to enhance her skills early on.

Transition to Acting and Notable Roles

King began acting in 1998, starting with minor film roles. Her breakout came with a supporting role in Pearl Harbor (2001), followed by a more prominent part in Bulletproof Monk (2003). She went on to star in lead roles in several feature films, including Sin City (2005) and My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009).

From 2011 to 2015, she starred as Lemon Breeland in The CW's television series Hart of Dixie, a role that brought her mainstream recognition. Additionally, King lent her voice to the character Aurra Sing in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Personal Challenges and Advocacy

Between the ages of 14 and 19, Jaime King struggled with heroin addiction, a period that also coincided with the height of her early modeling career. She later entered rehabilitation and has since spoken publicly about her recovery journey. During that time, she dated fashion photographer Davide Sorrenti, who tragically passed away at 20 from kidney failure. Though often associated with drug use, his death was ultimately attributed to a preexisting medical condition complicated by substance misuse.

King has openly shared her past struggles to advocate for awareness around addiction and mental health, helping to break the stigma surrounding these issues in the modeling and entertainment industries.

Family Life and Health Struggles

While on the set of the film Fanboys in 2005, King met filmmaker Kyle Newman. The two married in 2007. They welcomed their first child, James Knight Newman, in 2013. King has been candid about her difficulties with infertility, which included polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, five miscarriages, and an ectopic pregnancy.

Despite these medical hurdles, she successfully gave birth to a second son, Leo Thames Newman, in 2015. King frequently shares glimpses of her family life and personal milestones on social media, including tattoos she has dedicated to her children.
