Javier Lopez

Javier Alfonso Lopez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on 11th July, 1977. He was selected with MLB (Major League of Baseball), in fourth round of the 1998, draft. Initially he didn’t aim to become a baseball athlete. His father was an FBI agent, so it was his passion to become FBI agent. Javier bats with his left hand; he is a left hander specialist best famous for his Side Arm (Submarine) delivery. In Baseball, he plays as a professional pitcher. Javier started his MLB career with Arizona Diamondbacks. The 6.5 feet high Lopez, pitched for almost four teams of the MLB.

Early Career

His biography reveals that Lopez spent his early childhood in Fairfax Virginia. He went to Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax. He has an American nationality. During his school days he was not intended much for his baseball career. He had actually aimed for a career as FBI agent. Lopez played his collegiate baseball at University of Virginia. Here, he had an outstanding baseball career. Playing for the Virginia Cavaliers Baseball team, earned him reputation for the recruiters. In University of Virginia, he had a win loss record of 12-9 and an ERA of 6.30. He was the number 26th player of UVA, who was selected with MLB. He studied in UVA only for three years. He was very keen for perusing his degree. Lopez studied Psychology in university. After three years he had to leave university for starting professional career in baseball. He still continued studying and completed his degree as he had made a promise to his father in law.

Professional Career with MLB

Being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks, Lopez started his Minor League baseball with South Bend Silver Hawks. He then played with A-Advanced California League for High Desert Mavericks, after being promoted in 2000. In 2001 season, he played with Lancaster Jethawks. He was selected by the Boston Red Sox, in rule 5 Draft. On 18th March, 2003 he was then traded with Colorado Rockies. He played his 2005 season with Arizona Diamondbacks and in 2006 he signed deal for Chicago White Sox.

From 2006 to 2009 he played with the Boston Red Sox. He played his 2010 season with Pittsburgh Pirates. He played the best of his career from 2010 to 2015 with San Francisco Giants. He appeared in NLDS two times with Giants against the Atlanta Braves. In baseball Lopez is famous for his unique pitching style. He is seen to be the best against Left hander hitters. His side arm delivery is what makes him a left hander specialist. From 2010 to present, he is playing with San Francisco Giants. He signed another contract with Giants in 2013.It was worth of $13 million.

Personal Life

Lopez has a very happy married life. His wife Renee Richard was his long term girlfriend form high school times. They both attended school together. Lopez had very close ties with his in laws even before marriage. It is said that Lopes pursued his Psychology degree on promise to his father in law. Lopez has expressed his strong faith on Jesus Christ showing to be a Christian.
