Musical Career
Before The Mickey Mouse Club was cancelled, JC wrote the song Give In to Me. It was the first major step that would lead to professional career as a musician. His musical career when he formed a boy band called in NSYNC in 1995. Along with Justin Timberlake, he was one of the lead singers because of his strong voice. They got international recognition after they were very well received by fans in Europe during a 1996 tour. Two years after their success in Europe they released their first album which sold eleven million copies. Thanks to their huge success in sales, the band became a very popular band in the United States.
Their second album was a huge hit in the sales chart, selling over 2.4 million copies in just over a week. The album included hit songs like Bye, bye, bye. They were mega stars among the young female audience. They came around at a time when boy bands were very popular in the United States. They competed with other boy bands like the Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees. They ended up being the most popular boy band because the lead singer Justin Timberlake was beloved by young women. They felt he was very handsome and talented. Even though JC was as talented as Justin, he did not get the same level of recognition because the girls felt that Justin was cuter.
The next year, they released another album titled Celebrity. They went on tour that same year to promote their new album. Celebrity sold less than their prior album, with 1.8 million copies sold in the first week on the album. It was a sign that the popularity of the band had peaked.
They boy band eventually broke up as their main star Justin Timberlake was set for solo success. He was done carrying the band and wanted to set his own path. The other members like JC also tried to go solo but did not reach the same level of success that Justin did. Justin became a huge star and some even consider him to be the Michael Jackson of his era. Unfortunately for JC and the other band mates, their best years were with the band.0
Acting Career
After his music career ended, JC decided to go work in movies and TV shows. He was a judge on the talent show, America's Best Dance Crew which aired on MTV. MTV hired him as a judge because they respected his dancing abilities and knowledge that he displayed when he was in a boy band. JC’s movie career did not pan out like he wanted it to. He never appeared in major movies and only had appearances in small films like Longshot, Killer Movie and Red Sky. He thought it would have been possible to land roles based on his success in NSYNC but he was dealt with the harsh reality of the boy band craze being over.
